Asialink Arts acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, and to Elders past and present on whose lands we work across Australia and the Asia Pacific.
The Merindas would like to thank their Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurrundjeri Woi Wurrung brothers and sisters from the Kulin nation for the opportunity to tell our story, on your country. Over 6 months, Melbourne based musical duo, The Merindas, and, Shii, an emerging electronic music artist based in Wuhan, generously and candidly shared experiences and stories, developing a dialogue around their creative lives.

Through a series of virtual conversations and a process of short iterative film making, 知音 sonicbridge, fostered deeper understandings, lasting relationships and opens a new chapter in cultural diplomacy between China and Australia.

I am more inclined to express various thoughts in my life and put them into my music. I feel like some of them come from female perspectives, ‘Night Diving’ is a song about feminism.

知音 sonicbridge provides a creative response to the issues posed by COVID-19. We are thrilled that the project builds empathy and understanding by bringing together artists, venues, labels and promoters to re-envisage a music future that is viable, ethical and accessible to independent artists.
